The Year of Restoration[social_warfare]
“Restoration.” I was so glad when the Lord whispered to my heart to watch for restoration in 2019. Last year was a standout even among several tough ones we’ve navigated since we married, and we were glad to see the pages turn on the calendar come January 1. Can I get an “Amen”?!
2017 was the year of cultivating a quiet life. Last year, our focus was cultivating a loving life. As we move into our year of restoration, I’m eager to see how this idea holds true:
Curating a collection of verses to help me focus on restoration involved going back through last year’s journals and seeing ways God began planting seeds through verses that resonated with me along the way. I took time to reflect during our after-Christmas getaway in Oklahoma and then transferred the verses to note cards, hole-punched them like the elementary school teacher I once aspired to be, and strung them together with a pretty tassel.
Now that that’s done, I flip through these several times a week to keep me oriented. It’s amazing how what we’re expecting affects the ways we experience and respond to life as it unfolds around us. The lens makes all the difference in our perception, yes?
Do you have a word or focus for the year? I’d love to hear it!
