Thieves in the Shower
Can I make a confession? I am really not a fan of housework. I mean, Phil and I do a good job of keeping things neat and picked up, but don’t go poking around in corners if you drop by for a visit or you’re likely to meet the dust bunnies!! But, every now and then I get inspired and think, “Whoa, Lauren! Not sure where that drive’s coming from, but you better roll with it.” And, today was one of those days!
It started with a phone call. I knew catching up with one of my BFFs was going to take a while, so I grabbed my dust mit and knocked out the dusting, then mopped the kitchen while we talked. I was so inspired by my success, I kept going! (It totally helps to live in a <1000 sq. foot condo!)
My efforts eventually led me to one of the things I hate most: the tile floor in the shower. That’s one I can’t just spritz with Thieves cleaner and call it good. (Believe me, I’ve tried!!) Probably because I don’t do this often enough, This spot takes a bit more ummph. So, I whipped up a little concoction that worked so well I thought I’d pass it on to you. #cleaninghatersoftheworldunite
Making a quick and easy deep cleaner with no harsh chemicals was super simple!
Step 1 – Sprinkle about a tablespoon of baking soda in a glass bowl.
Step 2 – Add a capful of Thieves cleaner.
Step 3 – Slowly add about 2 ounces of white vinegar and stir as it fizzes. It filled the whole bowl when I did it!
Step 4 – Add 1-2 drops of Lemongrass (because I love the smell and it’s a cleaning powerhouse).
Once that was done, I used a sponge to spread it on the shower floor then let it sit while I did the rest of the laundry, ironing, and kombucha-making. I came back a couple times to check, scrub a little, and let it linger to eat through all the build up that had somehow shown up over the last … I can’t actually remember exactly the last time I’d done this. (Did I mention I hate cleaning?!)
Anyway, I’m happy to report that the tile is now squeaky clean, the condo is clean (as well as tidy), and I’m SET for an awesome week. Please tell me I’m not the only one who hates cleaning …
